About Me

I’m glad you’ve come to this page. In holistic medicine, the benefits of treatment come not only from knowing where and how to place needles for maximum effect, but from the interaction between patient and provider. Let me start by introducing myself.

A University of Michigan graduate, I have been interested in both science and natural medicine my entire life. After my first daughter was born, I became a Bradley Natural Childbirth Instructor because my own experience had been so positive that I wanted to share what I had learned with others so that they too could maximize their health during pregnancy and have a thorough preparation for birth. My couples had wonderful results as well, and two of them even named their daughters Elizabeth!

My interest in Oriental medicine blossomed, when, after several years and dozens of physician visits, a correct diagnosis was finally made that my mother had cancer that had progressed to Stage IV with a grim estimate of only three months to live. At the time there was no chemo or radiation protocol available for her, so we decided to give Oriental medicine a try because it has a unique way of looking at the body and is a sophisticated system of medicine that developed over thousands of years of observation and practice.

That is where our healing journey really began. I travelled to Korea and there had the good fortune to meet Grandmaster Kang, a traditional Korean martial artist and Oriental medicine healer. He became my friend and mentor and I studied with him for eight years, through my visits to Korea, his visits here to Michigan and countless phone calls and assignments. He took a personal interest in my mother and advised me on all aspects of her care. We had continued to visit regularly with her Western physicians and they always seemed amazed that she was alive, had no pain and was able to really enjoy her life. Through PET scans we learned that the cancer growth had stopped in the liver and slowed down in the other metastasized tumors. Unfortunately, one of those small tumors was very near a cardiac artery and though its growth had slowed, it needed to be stopped immediately. My mother elected to participate in an experimental radiation study that she did not survive.

I had developed a tremendous respect for Oriental medicine and felt that it was truly my calling to be able to help people using this wonderful system of medicine and healing. I returned to school and over the next four years, earned my Master of Science in Oriental Medicine from the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine. I had excellent teachers at Midwest, particularly Dr. CJ Chen and Dr. Helen Wu, and I learned a great deal from them.

Today I have a practice where I treat all types of people with many different health concerns and goals. The resilience of the spirit and the ability of the body to find balance and healing continue to provide deep fulfillment and satisfaction. I truly enjoy working with people and helping them to discover their own capabilities and strengths, and regain their sense of fun as they move toward a new state of health.
